Facial Microneedling

Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, Microneedling is a revolutionary, minimally invasive treatment that will significantly rejuvenate and resurface the skin. During the treatment a device with fine needles (Dermapen) creates tiny punctures on the top layer of the skin.

These micro injuries prompt the skin's healing response. When the skin repairs itself, collagen and elastin form, while old damaged skin cells shed away.

Furthermore the micro channels created by these tiny punctures allow increased absorption of the cosmeceutical topical solutions that are used during the procedure. After the healing procedure, your skin will plump up, looking refreshed, radiant and tightened.

Micro needling provides you with the following results:

  • Improved skin texture and firmness
  • Improved skin tone
  • Reductions in scars, pore size, pigmentation and stretch marks
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles

    Body Microneedling

Body Microneedling for Skin Tightening, Stretch Marks and Cellulite Reduction

Typically performed as a facial treatment, however here at Lily’s Holistic Aesthetics & Beauty we bring the skin resurfacing and collagen-boosting benefits of this treatment to your body. Microneedling can be performed on areas of the body that have beendepleted of collagen and elastin as skin changes over time, through hormonalshifts, or due to rapid skin stretching of the skin (i.e. pregnancy, weight fluctuations).

What conditions can be treated with Body Micro needling?

    Cellulite

First we need to understand that Cellulite appears as a result of:

    • The fat cells in the subcutaneous tissue grow larger (weight gain) and,
    • The collagen and elastin fibres on the dermis become weak and brittle, either as a natural result of ageing or due to hormonal changes (i.e menopause) and are unable to orderly contain the larger fat cells.

When these two factors come together, the skin will appear dimpled (orange peel) like appearance. Naturally cellulite appears on areas of the body that contain higher amounts of fat deposits, particularly on the hips, buttocks and thighs.

During the Microneedling procedure the skin on the areas affected by cellulite will be methodically pricked by tiny, sterilised needles. As these needles penetrate the skin (at a depth between 0.25 mm to 2.5 mm), they will cause micro-wounds that trigger the body’s natural healing processes, including collagen and elastin production.

Additionally, during the procedure serums containing high quality active ingredients (L-Carnitine and Caffeine) are applied on the skin to increase fat metabolism, lymphatic drainage, toxin elimination and cell regeneration.

    2. Stretch marks and other sunken scars

A stretch mark is a type of scar that develops when our skin stretches or shrinks quickly. The abrupt change causes the collagen and elastin, which support our skin, to rupture. As the skin heals, stretch marks may appear.

Not everyone develops these narrow bands on their skin. Fluctuating hormone levels seem to play a role. You may also have a higher risk if people in your family get stretch marks. If you develop stretch marks, you’re most likely to do so during these times:

    • Growth spurts that happen in puberty
    • Pregnancy
    • Rapid weight loss or gain
    • Weight training when you have rapid muscle growth

When stretch marks first appear, they tend to be red, purple, pink, reddish-brown, or dark brown, depending on your skin colour. Early stretch marks may feel slightly raised and can be itchy. In time, the colour fades and the narrow bands sink beneath your skin. If you run your finger over a mature stretch mark, you often feel a slight depression.

Stretch marks are mostly permanent, but Microneedling has been proven to significantly improve and reduce their appearance by breaking down the damaged scar tissue on the dermis (by micro-wounding), like this stimulating the production of new skin cells. Additionally, during the procedure serums containing high quality active ingredients (Hyaluronic acid, Retinol, Organic Silicon) are applied on the skin to increase cell regeneration.

This procedure is performed at regular intervals (3 to 4 weeks) and over the course of several treatments will significantly reduce the depth and appearance of the stretch marks and other sunken scars (i.e. Acne Scarring).

Like Microneedling for the face, a series of treatments will likely be recommended for best results (think: four to six sessions spaced one month apart).

Please note that anyone who is or has been during the last six months taking Retinoids such a roaccutane (as acne treatment) or other medications that increase photosensitivity should not undergo this treatment.

Additionally, those taking blood thinners or anticoagulants are not candidates. Tattooed areas, Keloids or hypertrophic scars can not be treated.

What conditions can be treated with Body Microneedling?

Cellulite – as this is caused by a weak and brittle skin matrix that cannot contain the enlarged fat cells in an orderly way, giving rise to the dimpled “orange peel” effect characteristic of cellulite. The collagen-boosting effects of Microneedling will help to tighten the fibres of the skin matrix for a smoother appearance of the skin. Furthermore, during the procedure, serums containing high-quality active ingredients (L-Carnitine and Caffeine) are applied on the skin to increase fat metabolism, lymphatic drainage, toxin elimination and cell regeneration.
